THE CHATHAM RAID

Courage changes history

In 1665 the Dutch marines were founded. Their first successful mission came in 1667: the fleet sailed up the Medway, passed the defensive works and set English ships ablaze. The Royal Charles was captured. The Chatham Raid is remembered as one of the most daring maritime attacks in history.

This special edition honours the marines, their history, and the spirit of courage, craftsmanship and camaraderie.
